Fruit and Veg at SHSS!

The SHSS garden is flourishing!

Transition year students planted fruit and vegetables last spring as part of their Sustainability module with Mr Barry. They learned planting hacks such as adding coffee grounds to the soil to aid growth. We now have thriving Nero di Toscana and Red Russian kale, along with lettuce and raspberries.

Mr Barry is also responsible for the SHSS bees who live in hives up by the fifth year prefabs. He has lots of plans for this module which gives students a taste of self-sufficiency, sustainability and of course, growing organic produce.
