LAW DAY

Transition Year Law Day

On April 26th and 27th all TY students had a Law Day with barrister Niamh Cronin. Ms Cronin began the day by introducing us in the morning to the different types of law and the courts of Ireland. This was very interesting as none of us knew much about it. She talked about different cases and what would happen in the trials.

Later in the morning, she showed us a film related to law called ‘A Time to Kill’. This was to show us the layout of a trial and the procedures involved .

In the afternoon, we got to have our own mock trial. It was a murder case and there were two barristers for each side, prosecution and defence. These roles were filled by TY students .They took turns questioning the witnesses and it was up to the jury to reach a verdict.

Everyone really enjoyed the day, and again we would like to thank Niamh for introducing us to the world of Law.

It was fun and engaging for everyone. I would definitely recommend for any other years.
