EYP Munster Session 2021

From the 18th to the 21st of February 2021, the European Youth Parliament held its annual Munster regional session. The event took place online via discord and zoom and brought together 150 4th, 5th, and 6th year students from every county in Munster. The event was a fantastic opportunity to develop skills in teamwork, leadership, and communication. It was also a great opportunity to make new friends.

Each delegate chose one of twelve committees to be in, each of which had a different issue faced by the EU to discuss. Over the four days of the event, each committee came up with a list of resolutions to their respective topics and then presented them to the rest of the delegates in a structured debate over a zoom call. After the resolutions were debated, the delegates voted on whether or not to pass it. I was in the committee ITRE II for example, which discussed the question of regulating AI.

There were optional evening and lunchtime activities every day for the delegates to participate in and also a very active group chat, so there were various opportunities to socialise and get to know each other.

Overall, participating in the EYP Munster Session was a fantastic experience and a great insight into how the European Parliament works.
