DEVELOP ME WORKSHOP
DEVELOP ME WORKSHOP
On Monday 9th December, Transition Years participated in the Develop Me workshop. Through experiential learning, the programme focused on two critical areas: project management and understanding effective teamwork.
Students were presented with the challenge of planning and launching an expedition to the Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine with limited time and resources. The students really enjoyed this quest and noted that although they all began the task with the same amount of time, information and resources there were many different outcomes in the different teams.
Students were then put in a theoretical situation where a group of mining companies have come together to build a bridge over the famous Tom’s Canyon Ford. The students had to work efficiently to get the bridge built in under an hour. There was also an element of competition between teams, which motivated the groups to work faster.
The bridges were a great success and were completed in 40 minutes. The students really enjoyed the day and found the workshop very worthwhile.
Once again this workshop has been a success for TY students here in Sacred Heart. We extend our gratitude to Ger and Eoin who presented this workshop to us.
