SHSS Green Schools Field Trip to recycling centre

On Friday our TY Green Schools class and the Junior Green Schools Community had a trip to Forge Hill Recycling Centre in Cork City. We were all shocked by the volume of waste being produced as you can see from the pictures. The biggest message from the staff working here is to please not contaminate the recycling bins, only put in clean and dry paper, cardboard and plastic. It was an eye opening experience. We followed on to the Old Cork City Waterworks which was very insightful about what life was like before clean water was available to everyone. There was a brilliant interactive educational room that helped us understand sustainability and it's vital importance today as well as what we can do to help.
