Awards 2024
On Friday 24th May we held our annual awards ceremony in the school. This day is such an important event in our school calendar as it is the day we acknowledge and celebrate the many achievements attained by our students. This event is organised by Ms Meade supported by the Student Council and Student Voice groups as well as colleagues from the Music Department. As Ms Meade said in her opening address “Today, we celebrate student achievement in all its forms—academic, sporting, cultural, and the embodiment of our school ethos. Each of you has demonstrated remarkable dedication, perseverance, and passion. Your achievements are a testament to your hard work and commitment to excellence. As we honour you today, remember that your success is not just measured by your accomplishments, but by the positive impact you have on our school community and beyond.”
We also remembered former teacher Sr. Mary O’Donovan and Mr. Sean Crowley who served as chairman on the board of management, both of whom sadly passed away during this academic year.

Distinguished past pupil, Dr. Kate Kirby, presented all awards and spoke to all in attendance. Dr. Kirby is a Sports Psychologist for Team Olympic Ireland and spoke about her fond memories of Sacred Heart and the all-round education she received in our school partaking in hockey, volleyball, the school musicals and debating. Her recipe for success was "hard work, a positive attitude and applying yourself really well”. Important things Dr. Kirby has seen in her career are the importance of having balance in one’s life, so that if injury or illness occur, other outlets in life will help, being resilient and picking yourself back up after failure and the importance of being able to take feedback. The ability to be depersonalise feedback will ultimately allow one to grow as a person and athlete.
Thanks to everyone who participated in making this year’s awards ceremony such a success but particularly Ms Meade for her tireless work in this area.
