Anti-Racist Summit

The second youth-led Anti-Racism Summit took place at City Hall on Friday, May 17th. Zoey Nyoni, 6th year student, jointly emceed the event, which showcased keynote speakers and performances emphasising the importance of creating a more inclusive country.

Ms Claire Holland was invited to talk about our school and the initiatives we have put in place to promote inclusivity at Sacred Heart Secondary School.

As well as emceeing the event Zoey Nyoni asked politicians and policy makers some hard hitting questions about the pressing issues of the direct provision system which affects young refugees and migrants.

The summit also highlighted the stories of young people's experiences of racism through dance, music, theatre and the spoken word. Zoey contributed with her poem titled “Unpaid Models”.

The event inspired a sense of hope, with the youth eager to lead the movement for positive change.
