SHSS WEEKLY ROUNDUP - Friday 20th May 2022

The Leaving Certs are almost finished at SHSS! Six years ago they were preparing to go to secondary school. Time flies. Looking forward to both the LC graduation and the TY graduation next week. And, of course, Awards Night tonight. It’s been three years since the last one!

Best news of the week: 2 weeks to the summer holidays. Feels like 2 years. Sigh.

Blitz of the week: The camogie blitz in Skibbereen. Well done the first years and Mr Healy.

Best day of the week : Wednesday. A surprise half day. How bad.

Happy Birthday of the week: Happy Birthday, Mr Walsh!

Entrepreneurs of the week : Squiggly Beads who won ‘Best Sales’ at the Enterprise Awards. Bravo!

Celebration of the week: The medals and pizzas in the GPR for the numerous sporting achievements this year.

Carpenters of the week : 4.4 making beehives! Affordable housing for the SHSS bees.

High jumper of the week : Elva in 1st year who did some serious scissor kicking!

Future lawyer of the week: Jessica in 5th year who came second in a national law essay comp. Amazing.

Podcast of the week (1): A fantastic interview with the legendary Mrs Noreen Minihan. A wealth of knowledge and social history, do not miss this when it’s available to download.

Podcast of the week (2): An inspiring interview from Italy with Susan Steele, Exec Director of the European Fisheries. Seven kids, a Phd, two Masters degrees. A mighty woman.

History trip of the week: The TYs who went to the Railway Village.

School tour of the week (1): TYs who went to Ballyhass. Looked like great fun.
