SHSS Awards Night 2022

We were delighted to host our first Awards Night since 2018 last night in the GPR. Recipients from the last three years, along with their parents or guardians, were invited to this delightful ceremony.

The event opened with an address from Leaving Cert student, Meibh Collins. The awards, both current and retrospective, were given out promptly by various staff and invited guests. It was great to see our past pupils looking so well. Awards included the Leaving Cert Applied Award, the LCVP Award, the Niamh Coughlan Memorial Award, the Sr Benedicta Barry Award, the Leaving Cert and Junior Cycle Awards, the Sr Eilis McGrath Award, the Pauline Cullinane-Hicks Award, An Duais Award, and the JC and LC Technology Award.

There was a new addition this year: the Geraldine Cullinane Bursary Award which will run for five years. Geraldline’s sister, Deirdre, spoke of her late sister’s love for English and History, and was delighted to present the inaugural trophy.

Ms Brosnan and Mr Walsh spoke, as did Chairperson of the Board of Management, Mr Sean Crowley.

One highlight was a video message from past pupil and GAA star, Martina O’Brien, congratulating the All-Ireland Senior Football team on their recent win.

Huge thanks to Ms Hayes and her students who entertained us with beautiful music throughout the evening.

Finally, all of this would not have been possible without Ms Leona Meade and her team on the Student Council and Student Voice. They worked tirelessly to organise this wonderful evening.

Congratulations again to all involved!
