‘Look Into Law’ Transition Year Programme
The ‘Look Into Law’ TY Programme is an exciting initiative aimed at increasing students' awareness of the work of The Bar of Ireland and to encourage students to consider a career as a barrister. There were 100 participants from 100 schools from all over the country. I was fortunate to get the opportunity to take part.
We had presentations from barristers, solicitors, journalists as well as junior and senior counsel members.
A host barrister was assigned to groups of 5 students. My host barrister was John Temple, who accompanied us to the Four Courts and the Criminal Courts of Justice where we experienced the court process and heard many cases.
I got the opportunity to take part in a mock trial, where I was the prosecution witness.
We had presentations from barristers, solicitors, journalists as well as junior and senior counsel members.
If the week hasn’t encouraged me into studying at The Bar, it has definitely informed me about our legal system and the roles that each professional plays in the quest for justice.
I was privileged to be awarded my certificate by our Chief of Justice, Frank Clarke.
