Psychslam Success
A group of TY students participated in the UCC Psychslam on Monday 11th February. The girls spent the past few month working on their presentation, “Care homes of the future: how technology & psychology can combine to improve care for older people”. Amy Beechinor, Brid Collins, Aoibhinn Barrett, Ella Campbell, Ella O’Donoghue, Samantha Rowden, Emma White & Hannah Sexton were member of the group.
Their day in UCC commenced with a talk from the organisers of Psychlam, the 28 schools were then divided two groups of 14 and each group gave their presentation in front of the group and two judges.
At the end of the first round of presentations the students were asked to vote for their favourite team.
After lunch the 6 finalists were announced. The Sacred Heart girls were overjoyed to make it to the final six. Following the excellent presentations the judges took time out to deliberate.
The Sacred Heart girls were announced as winners of the People’s choice awards as well as coming in 3rd place overall.
The girls had a fantastic and informative day in UCC. Many thanks to Eileen Harte who mentored the girls throughout the project and well done to the girls. ( by Aoibhinn Barrett)
