Munster Junior A final awaits Sacred Heart camogie team after semi-final victory.

Sacred Heart Clonakilty 8-6
Coláiste Choilm Ballincollig 2-6

Sacred Heart ran out convincing winners in today’s Munster Junior A Camogie semi final at a windy Ballincollig. Playing with the aid of a swirling breeze the Clon girls opened the scoring with two Eimear O Brien goals in the opening five minutes. With the midfield on top due to the outstanding work rate of Lydia and Millie.

Katie O Driscoll extended Sacred Heart’s lead with her trademark kicked goal and followed it up with a point after outpacing her marker. The defence offered little to Choilm with Erica Harrington, Mary Murphy and the very impressive Ciara White offering little time and space to the opposing forwards.

Lydia added another point after a lung bursting run through the middle before Orlaith Deasy added a superb goal as the clock moved towards the 30 minutes. There was still enough time for Katie to add to her tally with another goal right out of the top drawer.

Half time 5-3 0-1

With the wind to their backs in the second half Coláiste Choilm came out fighting but despite dominating possession couldn’t get the goal they needed as Alannah O Brien, Kate O Donovan and Niamh Kennedy in the Clon full back line repelled the danger.

The game was over as a contest when, in Clon’s first attack of the second half Eimear broke through to finish to net after outstanding work from Maeve Kingston and Caoimhe Murphy. Orlaith Deasy added her second soon after and the game began to become very stop start as Clon began to bring on all their replacements.

Coláiste Choilm added 2-5 in the final quarter to Clon’s 1-3 (Eimear goal, Kate Nolan and Caoimhe Murphy points )

Sacred Heart now move forward to a Munster Colleges Junior A Final date with Ursulines Thurles on the 11th or 18th of January.
