1st Year Footballers beat the elements to come out on top!

The first year football team had a match against Coachford yesterday despite the wind and rain.The game kicked off at 11:30 , with Sara O’Sullivan and Ella Cahalane working hard in the middle and playing the ball down to the forwards.Áine White had some super saves and had great kick outs which allowed the players to continue their attacking.The SHSS girls has a strong wind with them in the first half which allowed them to take scoring opportunities.Scorers of the first half included , Cliodhna with a goal and two points ,Maebh O’Brien with 3 points , Alice O’Leary with a goal, Laura Daly and Maire Murphy with 2 points each.That closed the first half with a score of 2:09 to 0:01

In the second half the strong wind was against them , Coachford began to attack forward , this didn’t phase Clon as Erin Hurley was making solid saves and coped well with the pressure of the strong kicks and attacking forwards which only brought up the energy of the girls.

Despite the weather the girls played well and came out with a final score of 3:10 to 1:2
