Junior Camogie team advance to Munster Semi-Finals

The Junior camogie team faced St Angela’s Waterford on Monday 25th of November in the quarter final of the ‘A’ Munster Championship and came away with a hard fought victory following a titanic tussle. The Clon girls dominated the opening stages as Eimear O Brien rattled the net twice and Orlaith Deasy added another. The backs were driving Sacred Heart forward as the outstanding half line of Maeve Kingston, Mary Murphy and Erica Harrington set up attack after attack.
The second quarter continued in a similar vein as the Clon girls added another 2-3 while St Angela’s opened their account and following a purple patch added their own 1-3 from frees. Half time 5-3 1-3

The second half saw Eimear popping over from a close in free as Millie and Lydia continued to dominate around the middle. The momentum now changed though as St Angela’s, last years Champions thundered into the game and following a goal mouth scramble cut the deficit. Sacred heart continued to battle hard with Alannah O Brien, Ciara Hourihane and Grace Nyhan repelling attack after attack. With ten to go the Clon girls seemed in control but Angela’s burst through for two goals in quick succession to bring the game to real life. With momentum on the Waterford side Caoimhe Murphy took control to catch a pick out from the sky and take off on a solo run ending with her being fouled and Eimear did the rest from the resultant free.
