German exchange with students from the Bavarian town of Waldaschaff
It has been a very busy week at Sacred Heart with arrival last week of 18 students and 3 staff from Clonakilty's twin town of Waldaschaff in Germany. The twinning between the two schools recommenced in 2015 with the latest exchange seeing the German students return for the 2nd occasion. After a warm reception on arrival on Tuesday, the students got Wednesday going by visiting Blarney Castle, Cork Jail, The English Market and Cork City. On Thursday the students then experienced a morning of Sacred Heart Classes followed by an afternoon of Irish Music, Dance and a Céilí. A muddy tour of Inchydoney Island, followed by Crazy Golf and the Maize at Smugglers Cove got heads spinning! A stop over at Drombeg stone circle finished of Friday on a historical note. The Waldaschaff residents then took center stage in the St.Patrick's Day parade. A family day on Sunday was followed by a inspirational visit to the Galley Head light house on Monday, where thereafter Oak fired Pizzas were consumed!
