"When I entered the UL School of Law Essay competition I hadn’t decided what I wanted to study in university but when my essay won its category I took it as ‘a sign’ that I was to study law in UL. The awards ceremony gave me a fantastic insight into studying Law at UL. I got the opportunity to meet personally with lecturers who are at the top of their profession yet inviting, friendly, and helpful. We were told about the wonderful opportunities available to law students in UL and about the Law programmes available- Law Plus where at the end of 4 years you have your law degree but you also have that something ‘extra’ - making you a unique law student, and Law and Accounting, which I chose as it provided diversity and I had a dual degree with unlimited opportunities. University was no longer a daunting experience as I knew there was the School of Law faculty ready to help their students develop and to achieve their potential. Entering the UL School of Law secondary school essay competition was the best decision I have made as it led me to study Law in UL; where I hope to continue my legal education and pursue a PhD.”
