Self Help Africa

Staff and students here at Sacred Heart, Clonakilty ,would like to take this opportunity to wish a safe journey ,and a great adventure to Ms Sinead Mc Evoy, and three Transition Year students , Laura Cullinane, Orla Sheehy and Roisin Mc Carthy who travel to Zambia tomorrow , Saturday February 15th, with Self Help Africa.

During their trip they will meet community groups that Self Help Africa are working with, in the most remote locations across Zambia, and see first-hand the lasting and real impact of Self Help Africa’s work.

Self Help Africa’s programme focus in Zambia is on two key areas: rural enterprise development and sustainable agricultural and rural livelihoods. Their largest project is a five-year Irish Aid funded local development project that commenced in Northern Province in early 2013.

These programmes address a selection of integrated issues: sustainable agriculture, food and nutrition security, research into and production of improved varieties of seed, rural enterprise development and income generation, and environmental rehabilitation.

We wish them well as they embark ,on what we know will be ,a life changing experience.
