Junk Kouture 2023/2024

Junk Kouture drew to a close last week with students placing the finishing touches on their fantastic, creative projects. In the words of our sage and prodigious art teacher, Ms O’ Connell “Junk Kouture challenges our Transition Year students to design, upcycle and create high end Kouture from recycled Junk, before showcasing their design and representing their school on stages across the world!

Creativity and skills such as sewing, crocheting and weaving are used to make beautiful clothes. These designs often deal with sustainability issues and knowledge of their impacts; for example, plastics in our oceans.

The competition provides a forum for positive action on climate change by raising awareness of it, as the students bring their designs to life in the public arena.”
