Gaisce Challenge
Hello everyone my name is Victoria and I am a French exchange student here at Sacred Heart Secondary School. I don’t really know why but I came here thinking that maybe I could do lots for the school, or the town in a year.
My host family and I are going to walk Carrauntoohil in May.This is part of my Gaisce challenge , which also includes raising money for the West Cork Women against Violence charity.
Like lots of people who climb that mountain, I am ,therefore ,looking for sponsorship. This is where you can help me.By donating just 1€ or 2€ you could change a lot for those women.( I have included a link below).
Two of the most prevalent types of violence that women experience are intimate partner violence ,and non-partner sexual violence. Almost one in three women across the world have experienced one or both of these forms of violence at least once in their lifetime.
The West Cork Women against Violence Project provides a safe, confidential, non-judgemental support service for women experiencing violence. It is important that women are informed about their options so that they can make their own decisions about their future. This will also help reduce the social acceptability of violence against women.
I admire the work this charity does helping women. Since I was a little child I have felt strongly about feminist issues and equality for women. I grew up in a busy city where as a women I often feel vulnerable. So I sympathise with anyone who feel powerless or unable to use their voice. We are now in 2023 and I fell that it should not be normal for a women to be scared in the street or in they own home, or to be abused in any way by their partner.
I have created a "go fund me page" for raising money for this great cause. Here is the link
Thank you
