Ceiliuradh Ceist 2023

 The Theme chosen for this year’s Ceiliuradh Ceist , which took place on Monday, January 30th, was “One Good Deed”

This gathering was our way of saying “Thank You “ to Sacred Heart ,and  to the Sisters of Mercy ,for their dedication to education of young girls here in Clonakilty since 1941,  and for all the good deeds carried out during that time It is also our way of saying “Thank You” to Ceist for the support received over the last sixteen  years, and for their  continued encouragement to all Ceist schools to focus on carrying out, in our own way, “Just One Good Deed” .

“One Good Deed”

            Don't let a day go by without acknowledging someone's good deed.

Kindness Starts with ….One person…One hug…… One smile….one good deed

                        Remember,A smile costs nothing, but gives much.

It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give.

It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.

None is so rich or mighty that they can get along without it, and none is so poor that they can be made rich by it.

A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business and is the countersign of friendship.

It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen - for it is something that is of no value to anyone, until it is given away.

If you were arrested for kindness, would there be enough evidence to convict you?

Would this evidence include your words of encouragement to a friend , your optimism , your hug , even your smile…

Remember , in the words of  Maya Angelou…”People often forget what we say and usually what we do, but They always remember how we made them feel.’

Because ‘The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention’ - It is in giving that we receive…

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear , an honest compliment , or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around…

 Today carry out “One Good Deed”with no expectation of a reward…

Safe in the knowledge that one day someone will do the same for you.

Today,Let's not wait for people to be kind. Let’s show them how’ -

God, what a joy it is to plant a tree,

And from the sallow earth to watch it rise,

Lifting its emerald branches to the skies

In silent adoration;

To see Its strength and glory rising with each spring.

Nature has many marvels; but a tree

Seems more than marvellous.

It is a privilege, beyond words,

To plant a tree.

  A tree will always

Speak  of companionship and rest,

Of growing beauty, singing birds, and shade.

As part of Ceiliuradh Ceist 2023  a tree was planted in the Front Lawn. This tree was planted in honour of Sacred Heart Secondary School, under the Trusteeship of Ceist , as a symbol of the continuation of education for girls in our community .As we move further into the 21st century we look forward with hope in our hearts to a bright future for our school .

He Who Plants a Tree

Plants a hope….hope of a happy, peaceful and bright future for all

He who plants a tree

Plants  joy;

Plants a comfort that will never fade;

  Plants peace……plants youth…… plants love,

Now we have planted  this little tree!

Forever and ever it belongs to us .

When it’s grown-up we will lift our eyes

To see our tree against the skies.

A great, tall, living thing we shall see.
