Sister Act
Ending on a High Note …Niamh Dineen 4.3
After two years without any buzz of a musical throughout the school, fourth years this year were looking forward to spreading some joy with the chosen musical 'Sister Act'!
The musical is based on the comedy/crime movie 'Sister Act', released in 1992. The story follows Deloris, a lounge singer, who is persuaded to go into witness protection as a nun at a convent after she witnesses a murder. Once there, she has trouble adjusting to her new lifestyle but soon settles in.
Since October, students have been tirelessly rehearsing, under the guidance of Miss O'Regan, Miss Hayes and Mr Browne.
Behind the scenes, Fourth years were also busy completing stage sets, lights and sound .Transition Year students were also responsible for hair and makeup . Unfortunately, tickets were not open to the public, but teachers and students both had the chance to set eyes on a tremendous production!
On the night of the live shows, the cast presented breathtaking entertainment, and all the work proved to be worth it! So much so that, on the 2nd of March, they got the opportunity to participate in the Light Drama Festival in Fermoy,...and won the All Ireland! Miss O'Regan also won Best Director, well deserved!
Overall, being a part of the show has been an amazing experience for all involved, I am sure. Personally, I can certainly say that it has. It is certainly wonderful that this musical has ended on a high 'note'!!
