The Mental Health Ireland Art & Photography Competition

The Mental Health Ireland Art & Photography Competition invites young people to explore and express their creative talents while encouraging students, teachers and parents to open up the mental health dialogue and encourage mental health championing.

2020 has been a turbulent time for many of our young people. They have faced new challenges and continued to grow up in a reality very different to the one they were prepared for at the start of the year.

With this in mind, the theme of our 2020/21 Art and Photography competition is ‘Reflecting on How I’ve Grown’ – in the face of the uncertainties and challenges of the year.

This might be the learning of a new skill, the ways in which they gave back to others and their community, the drawing on courage and strength they never knew they had, how they may have matured and coped with new stresses.

This is a celebration of our young people, and we want to give them the space to reflect on what they’ve learnt and how they’ve grown during these tough times.

This year, we are inviting students to express themselves in their chosen form and are opening up the Art category to include graphic design, cartoons and comic strips, paintings and drawings.

The competition is open to all Secondary Schools, Special Education and Youthreach students.
