Transition Year Work Experience Project 2021

Applications are now being accepted for the Transition Year Project 2021. Due to Covid-19, a date for the TY Orchestra week has yet to be decided. We hope to run the course some time between April and June 2021. Once a date is confirmed, we will contact all applicants.

At the CIT Cork School of Music, Union Quay, Cork City Centre.
 

The TY Orchestra Project is a work experience performance project for any students in Transition Year in 2021. This course continues to grow and, as we move into our fifth year, we look forward to welcoming a new group of enthusiastic Transition Year students!
 

Students will receive group and individual mentoring in their chosen instruments from 10 to 3 each day and will give a public lunchtime concert on the afternoon of the final day in aid of a local charity.
 

The week's activities will include:

Daily group rehearsals with professional conductor, Conor Palliser
Sectional rehearsals with experienced orchestral professionals
Observation opportunities with other CSM ensembles
Final lunchtime concert in aid of local charities
 

Applicants should have some orchestral or band experience and be comfortable reading music of at least Grade Five standard. We are not fussy about grade exam results but enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and improve are vital! If orchestral sections are oversubscribed we may request an audition video via email. 
 

We are currently accepting string, wind, brass and percussion players. Places are limited so you should apply early. 

String, wind and brass players are required to bring their own instruments and are responsible for them during the week. Percussion and concert harp players will be able to use the CITCSM instruments and don't need to bring their own.
 

Please fill in and submit the form below and we will contact you as soon as a date for the course is confirmed and we can offer places. We will send confirmation with a bill for a non-refundable fee of €50 which can be paid online to secure the place. This is the full fee for the week.
 

This is not a chaperoned course - there is a full service cafe onsite but we do not arrange accommodation or will not be responsible for feeding or entertaining the participants once they leave the Cork School of Music every day.
