German School Exchange.............What a Week!

The 5th school exchange in 9 years between SHSS and Schulle Waldaschaff took place last week with the arrival of 18 students and 3 staff from Waldaschaff, Germany. Peter Sander, Lukas Weissman and Gabbi Brand led 18 students from Waldaschaff on a wonderful school exchange that was hosted by the community of Sacred Heart. Experience of the Irish classroom was a central part of the exchange with many activities built into the schedule. These included, fun soccer in the Gym, a BBQ ( Irish style in the rain), Inchydoney beach walk and games, Trivia Quiz, Karaoke, Irish dancing and music, GAA training and attendance at a Gaelic Football game. Many thanks to all The Sacred Heart Students and their families for hosting. Thanks to Philip Walsh who did an excellent job as Quiz master, to O’ Donovan’s Hotel who provided the Garden Room for the Karaoke and quiz, to Sean O’ Sullivan and Noel Walsh who oversaw the BBQ cooking, to Mr. Browne and Nicola who provided the Karaoke, to Amy Flynn who helped coordinate the week, to Clonakilty Twinning Association who hosted an afternoon meet and greet, to the Lane sisters who performed the Irish dancing and to all the staff of SHSS who facilitated the smooth running of the exchange.
