SHSS athletes feature in South Munster Cross Country Championships

Congratulations to the 12 strong team of SHSS athletes who competed in the South Munster Cross Country Championships today in Tramore Park, Cork. Anna Keneally ran superbly in the minor girls’ race, finishing in the top 1/3. Izzy Neville went in the Junior race and had a top 20 finish in a field of over 100 runners. In the intermediate race, SHSS was represented by a team of 8, including Mia O’ Sullivan, Maria O’ Donovan, Annabel Tapia, Clodagh McCarthy, Olive O’ Flynn, Roxanne Llewellyn, Elva McAuley and Meadhbh O’ Mahoney. Olive O’ Flynn ran a magnificent race and finished a brilliant 2nd just a few meters behind the winner. She then promptly returned to Sacred Heart to tog out for the school’s Senior Hockey team for a cup game! No bother to Olive! Jill Mcarthy represented SHSS in the senior girls and finished strong in an ever-increasing muddy circuit! A special mention to the team first aider for the day, Casi O’ Donovan. Well done to all.
