Multicultural Extravaganza

Today, as part of Inclusion Week our Multicultural Extravaganza took place in the GPR. Students came together to set up stands representing parts of their heritage or cultures. Staff and students were able to visit throughout the day and see the array of traditional clothes, foods, drinks which was a delicious treat for everyone! The students had flags, different letters and phrases in their native language and quizzes to keep us all busy as we traversed the rich tapestry of cultures we have here at Sacred Heart! We may come from different backgrounds but through shared understanding we are unified as one school.

It is fitting that today, on the feast of St Brigid, Ireland’s only female patron saint our school embodied those same qualities so synonymous with St Brigid; compassion and understanding. Today is also ‘ Ceiliúradh Ceist 2024’ and this year’s theme is ‘Home, School and Parish - Working Together’. This certainly happened in Sacred Heart today. From the students who created stands and shared parts of their culture, history and heritage with us to the teachers such as Ms Holland, Ms Meade and Ms O’Riordan who guided students in their preparation for today. As always the Student Council and Student Voice groups were integral in supporting and promoting this event which resulted in a warm and appreciative experience for all. We were especially delighted to welcome Rita McCabe from CEIST to witness today’s event. A huge well done to all involved in today’s successful event. ‘Ní neart go cur le chéile’@ceisttrust @corkmigrantcentre @sos_ireland #shss #aschoolforall #choosewell #inclusion #inclusionweek #multicultural #multiculturalextravanganza
