Tell us about yourself.

 I am in 1st year, my name is Assumpta, I’m thirteen, my favourite colour is blue, I have lots of friends and I love shopping.

When did you start making jewellery?

I started when I was six. I just woke up one morning and I found some beads on the table and they were like hair beads, so I just picked them up and used a lace to put them in, then I went downstairs to show my grandma, like “Look, I made this and when I grow up I want to start a business”, but I hadn't thought of a name yet. Then she said when I was much older that she would get me my first jewellery case.

What inspired you to start your business?

I just used to love a lot of jewellery, I used to love seeing people design bracelets or like, other types of jewellery, and I just got really inspired by how to put the strings together and like making it all together and I used to be like “Oh I wish I could do that” and then one morning I just thought of it and just started making it.

Who inspires you the most?

I think my mom. Yeah, my mom.

Where did you learn to make the jewellery?

I’m not sure. I think I just taught myself.

How did you decide on the name of your business?

This is really really funny. So I was shopping on Shein one day and I was really really tired after making some jewellery and taking pictures of them and I was about to buy this type of Houston jumper and I was just like “What if I make it like, Houston Jewellery?”, and my mom was like “That’s good, just do that and if you ever want to change the name you can”, and I was like “I don’t think I’ll ever change the name but it’s fine now”.
