Sacred Heart Senior Footballers pipped at the end of pulsating Munster Final

Commiserations to the Senior Ladies football Panel who were pipped by a late goal in the Munster Senior B football final last Thursday in Ballyvourney against Mount Hawk Tralee. It was heart-breaking for this magnificent bunch of players, who have provided so much joy and occasion, representing the school over the years. In a game that Sacred Heart dominated for 40 minutes, it was the Lazarus like comeback from the Tralee students who scored 2:5 in those last 20 minutes that proved enough to win the title. Sacred Heart managed just 3 points in that timeframe having up to that point stretched the Tralee defence at will. The Clonakilty students will look back at what might have been, having completely bossed the opening half, but were still only 4 points ahead at the break. Two early second half points for the Clonakilty girls looked to put them in the driving seat, but it was all Mount Hawk from there on as they caught fire penetrating with almost every attack. We wish them well as they prepare for their All -Ireland semi-final. Hard luck to the Sacred Heart student. You can be very proud of your magnificent achievements.
