In Celebration of the Feast of the Epiphany ️

While the hustle and bustle of Christmas ends for many people on December 26, throughout Christian history Christmas lasts for twelve days. Today, January 6th, is when we celebrate the arrival of the Three Wise Men in Bethlehem. They delivered gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the Baby Jesus.

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany in Ireland. January 6th is marked by “Nollaig na mBan” or “Women's Little Christmas”. On this day it is the tradition in Ireland for the women to get together and enjoy their own Christmas, while the Irish men take on household duties for the day. This  tradition is still strong in Cork and Kerry, with goose being the traditional meat served.

A New Year’s Reflection

 Beginning Today

Beginning today I will no longer worry about yesterday.

Beginning today I will no longer worry about tomorrow.

Tomorrow will always be there, waiting for me to make the most of it.

But I cannot make the most of tomorrow without first

making the most of today.

Beginning today I will look in the mirror and I will see a person worthy of my respect and admiration.

Beginning today I will take life one day at a time, one step at a  time.

Beginning today I walk with renewed faith in human kindness.

And look forward with hope to the New Year ahead

Beginning today I will do things that make me happy .

admire the beautiful wonders of nature, listen to my favourite music,

pet a kitten or a puppy, soak in a bubble bath . . .

I will remind myself that contentment can be found in the most simple of gestures.

Beginning today I will learn something new; I will try something different;

Beginning today I will strive to become the best me I can possibly be.

Beginning today let us give thanks for all we hold dear: our health, our family and our friends.

Beginning today. And every day.

Happy New Year to All
