Ceiliúradh CEIST 2023 Celebrations!

Due to the Leaving Cert Mock Examinations starting this Wednesday, Ceiliúradh CEIST came early at Sacred Heart this year. The theme is ‘One Good Deed’.

Last week, Izzy Ryan and Olivia Lawlor, made a special TikTok featuring Mr Browne dancing in sync with TY students, all celebrating Ceiliúradh CEIST. Today, Sadhbh Frank edited a short video featuring students talking about Catherine McAuley and the Mercy tradition at SHSS.

There was a celebration in the GPR where Ms Brosnan lit a candle and Sr Eilis McGrath, our former principal, came back to speak to the assembled audience. Ms Harte recited a poem called ‘One Good Deed’, and then, both principals planted a tree outside the school in honour of CEIST.

Ms O’Riordan’s Religion classes made posters reflecting the theme ‘One Good Deed’ and the Sacred Space was decorated with examples.

Ceiliúradh CEIST falls on St Brigid’s Day (Lá Fhéile Bríde) and marks the beginning of Spring, the season of light, hope and renewal.

Thanks to the RE Department and to all of the students involved. Thanks to TY journalist, Evie Weller, for covering the story.
