SHSS Alumnae Link - Alexandra Flood
Welcome to SHSS Alumnae Link!
This is where we connect with past pupils and find out what they’re up to now.
This week we linked with Alexandra Flood who graduated in 2019.
Name and position:
Alexandra Flood, 3rd Year Pharmacy Student
Lives:
Dublin
Best memory of Sacred Heart:
I loved the fourth year trip to Cappanalee. It was such a fun week & felt like a real adventure!
Favourite classes:
I liked Biology & French classes the most. Religion was always a welcomed break from the normal routine too!
Career progression to date:
I’m currently in my third year of Pharmacy in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. The college is on Stephens Green in Dublin City centre and I’m loving every minute of it! The Mpharm programme is five years in total so I’m over halfway through it now. Pharmacy is a great profession to consider for anyone who loves science (particularly biology & chemistry) and wants to become a healthcare professional.
If you weren’t in the career you’re in, what would you be doing?
In another life I would have loved to become a history professor. Although I’m not sure how cut out I’d be for writing hundreds of essays!
Advice you’d give your teenage self:
My advice for my teenage self would be to stay on top of studying(especially in fifth year) and don’t get too bogged down about your CAO list. Consider other countries like the UK as entry requirements are generally lower! And if you don’t get your first choice it’s okay. You can always find a way to get to where you want to go.
Favourite quote/motto:
What’s meant for you won’t pass you.
Huge thanks to Ali for taking the time to answer our questions!
