SHSS Alumnae Link - Katie Moloney

Welcome to SHSS Alumnae Link!

This is where we connect with past pupils and find out what they’re up to now.

This week we linked with Katie Moloney who graduated in 2010.

Name and position:

Katie Moloney -Senior Talent Acquisition Partner

Lives:
Toronto, Canada
Best memory of Sacred Heart:

It’s so hard to pick one memory as I really enjoyed every single day of school. I think the one that sticks out the most is probably our school trip to Berlin when Ms Fitzpatrick walked into our hotel room to find the girls mid way through dying my hair purple!

Favourite classes:

English with Mrs O’Donoghue & Geography with Mr Daly.

Career progression to date:

After I left school I really wasn’t sure what I wanted to do so I decided to study my favourite subjects further and ended up studying Arts at UCC. When I graduated, I worked for a year in a call centre and took the year to figure out my next steps. A few months of soul searching & countless googling, I decided that a career in HR would be really exciting, I went back to study a Masters in HR by night at CIT. I secured a role in a recruitment agency in Cork, I climbed the ladder up to team lead before moving to Canada in 2019. Since relocating to Toronto, I’ve moved into a Talent Acquisition and HR role within the software industry.

If you weren’t in the job you have, what would you be doing?

I would be an English teacher!!

Advice you would give your teenage self:

I would tell myself that everything will be ok, you don’t have to have everything figured out at 18 and to focus on living in the present and enjoying the now.

Favourite quote or motto:
“You can do anything, but you can’t do everything”

Hidden talent:
I’m great at baking!

Huge thanks to Katie for taking the time to answer our questions.

See you soon for the next instalment of SHSS Alumnae Link!
