SHSS Alumnae Link - Jenny Quinn

Welcome to SHSS Alumnae Link!

This is where we connect with past pupils and find out what they’re up to now.

This week we connected with Jenny Quinn who graduated in 2014.

Name and position:

Jenny Quinn - Health Promotion Specialist with Dell EMC.

Lives:

Clonakilty/Cork

Best memory of Sacred Heart:

I have so many but I think some of the best memories were in 4th year on the way to away games with the football or hockey team.

What were your favourite classes?

My favourite classes included Physics with Dee. I think Mr. Pegler was fit to kill me sometimes but we still talk about how much fun we used to have in those classes. Religion where myself, Bec and Dee used to be bent over laughing.

Tell us about your career progression to date:

I attended CIT (now MTU) after school and studied Recreation and Leisure Management, I specialised in Business in my final year and ended up working in Clearstream Global Securities an investment funds bank in Cork for 3 years.

During Covid I decided to leave that job and go back to College and follow my passion and completed a Masters of Science in Strength & Condition in IT Carlow (now SETU). I finished up the Masters in May 2022 and handed in my thesis in September.

I started working in Health Promotion in July and it’s fair to say I think it’s my dream job. I run wellness and fitness events for Dell EMC all over Ireland. I also do strength and conditioning work with different GAA teams at evenings and weekends.

If you weren’t in the job you have, what would you be doing?

I love my job but if I was to do something else I would love to work with elite athletes.

Advice you would give your teenage self:

Not to stress too much about points in school. Whatever happens you can always find a route to do what you want, even if it takes a little longer.
I would make the most of all your friends being together in school because you will all be spread out during college and when you start working.

Favourite quote or motto?

Winners never quit and quitters never win.

What is your hidden talent?

I’m a great chef!

Huge thanks to Jenny for taking the time to answer our questions.

See you soon for the next instalment of SHSS Alumnae Link.
