SHSS Alumnae Link - Aislinn Kennedy
Welcome to SHSS Alumnae Link!
This is where we connect with past pupils and find out what they’re up to now.
This week we linked with Aislinn Kennedy who graduated in 2016
Name and position:
Aislinn Kennedy and I am currently a Nursery Nurse in Plas Gogerddan Nursery in Aberystwyth Wales.
Lives:
Aberystwyth, Wales.
Best memory of Sacred Heart:
The last night of Me and My Girl when I was in fifth year. We were all very emotional and it was my last show in Sacred Heart so that night has stuck with me.
Favourite subjects:
I really enjoyed History and music. Both were small classes and we were fairly tight knit groups. Mr Daly and Ms Whyte were great too so that helped !
Career progression to date:
After finishing my degree in UCC I headed straight in to working in Highcare Childcare in Ballincollig, where I worked from August 2019 to December 2020. I moved over to Aberystwyth, Wales in January and now work in a nursery primarily with Toddlers. It’s so lovely here, with lots of outdoor play and natural materials. It’s a bilingual nursery so I’m trying to learn a bit of Welsh to keep up with the kids!
If you weren’t in the job you have, what would you be doing?
I don’t know really, maybe teaching drama or musical theatre?
Advice you’d give your teenage self:
Be more confident. Looking back I spent so much time second guessing everything I did and said.
Favourite quote or motto:
“Happiness can be found in even the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light”
Hidden talent:
Anyone in my PE class would laugh but catching things is a new found talent! Bibs, bottles, toys you name it!
Huge thanks to Aislinn for taking the time to answer our questions.
See you soon for the next instalment of SHSS Alumnae Link.
