SHSS WEEKLY ROUNDUP - 21st January 2022

Last week,we thought that January was flying by. This week? It seems interminable. 

It’s been a busy week at SHSS with the annual Trade Fair and a College Information Fair, both in the gym. 

And now, a roundup of the week at SHSS.

Best news of the week: We officially have a day off on the 18th March! Yahoo!

Boffins of the week (1) : Ms Quirke’s second year Science Club who started to grow crystals with copper sulphate. 

Boffins of the week (2): Ms Holland’s Leaving Certs who found the melting point of benzoic acid. Not really sure what that is but it sounds really cool. Recrystallisation and all. 

Best event (1): The TY Trade Fair that took place in the gym. what a wonderful way to showcase all the amazing work that’s been taking place.

Best event (2): The Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards that took place in the GPR. 

Speaker of the week : Past pupil, Gillian Moore, who came back to SHSS for the Wednesday Lunchtime Talks. 

Interviewees of the week: The Certified Angus girls who travelled to Limerick for interviews. 

Podcast of the week : Our first guest of 2022 was Allison Roberts who makes the yummy Fairtrade Exploding Tree chocolate. 

Artists of the week: Ms Russell’s first year History class who channelled their inner Michelangelo. 

Battle of the week : Mr Barry and Mr Browne on the rowing machine at the Trade Fair. 

Fittest Friends of the week: Ms O Flynn’s first years.
