Martina O'Brien and Melissa Duggan Return to SHSS!

Today, Sacred Heart welcomed back past pupils, Martina O'Brien and Melissa Duggan, to officially declare LCPE an examination subject at senior cycle. Both are players on the Cork Ladies Football team, of which Martina is captain. Martina and Melissa were also recipients of prestigious Ladies’ Gaelic Football All Stars Awards in 2020.  

Both Martina and Melissa attended Sacred Heart as students and have fond memories of the school.

Ms Brosnan and Mr Walsh were delighted to have such inspirational women to officiate this momentous occasion. This is the first time in the school’s history that P.E. will be examined for the Leaving Certificate, and both students and staff are thrilled at the prospect.

Martina made a great speech to the students about the importance of physical activity and how P.E. is a subject for lifelong learning.

P.E. teachers, Mr Michéal Cronin and Ms Louise O’Flynn, were also present for this momentous visit.
