TY Law Day a Huge Success!

On Monday and Tuesday of this week, TY students took part in a Law Day. Run by former barrister Niamh Cronin, they learned about the Courts System, the Legal System and Duty of Care. Ms Cronin drew the layout of a courtroom during a trial on the board, showing the positions of the judge, the jury, the barristers etc. The students then watched excerpts from the movie 'A Time to Kill’, where they saw a dramatised, but accurate, court in session.

They finished off the day with a hugely popular Mock Trial. TY students took on the roles of prosecution and defence barristers, the defendant, witnesses, jury members, and court registrars. Ms Cronin was the judge. It was an extremely valuable experience for everyone, especially those interested in law.
