SHSS WEEKLY ROUNDUP - Friday 15th October 2021
1 WEEK TO MIDTERM!
Well done to all who auditioned for the upcoming SHSS musical, Sister Act. Whatever the outcome, you showed up and took part. Bravo! We’re so excited to see the stage in the GPR in use again.
Fantastic effort from the LCA students who ran a car wash in aid of the West Cork Animal Welfare Group. Mr Browne’s car looked sparkling clean! Thanks to Ms Kingston too!
Et voilà, a roundup of the week at SHSS.
Most energetic of the week: The first year hockey team who took part in a blitz this week. Non-stop hockey on the astroturf. Respect ✊
NBA Superstars of the week: The second year basketball players who took part in the blitz in the gym. Remember, it’s not how tall you are, it’s how high you bounce.
Best news of the week : Only ONE week to MIDTERM! Sleep ins. Halloween sweets. Netflix.
Reminder of the week: Halloween Dress Up Friday is happening next Friday. Have you thought of a costume yet? Anything goes!
Heroes of the week (1): The TYs who had two whole days of DATS. We salute you.
Heroes of the week (2): Those intrepid fifth and sixth years who went swimming at Ballyhass Adventure Centre. Wetsuit or no wetsuit, you were valiant indeed.
Tour of the week: The Senior History students’ visit to the Michael Collins Centre. Not only did they enjoy an amazing informative tour by Tim Crowley, they also got to visit the various historical sites around West Cork.
Coolest post of the week: The footage from the SHSS drone of the TY Team Building Day at Inchydoney.
Artists of the week: The fifth years with their Frida Kahlo and Henri Matisse inspired self portraits. Stunning!
Writer of the week: Past pupil, Louise O’Neill, for her lovely article on teachers in The Examiner. Thanks, Louise!
Chefs of the week: The TY Home Ec class who made amazing Mexican food for their Friday Night Takeaway. It looked so delicious. Love guacamole.
A teacher who looks more like a student of the week: Ms O'Brien in that photo with the rest of the Kilbree Camogie team (Junior C Camogie County Final winners). She looks about 17. Amazing!
Victors of the week: The Junior A Camogie team and their coach, Mr. Mulcahy, who won their match against Doon.
See you next week for the next instalment of SHSS Weekly Roundup. Have a wonderful weekend!
