PE at SHSS
PE Department Letter to parents - new procedures 2020 -2021
The PE Department at SHSS would like to welcome all students back for the 2020 -2021 academic year and a very special welcome to our new incoming first year students.
As with many aspects of life at present the PE Department has had to make some changes to our normal routines in order to ensure a fun, engaging but most importantly, a safe environment for all here at Sacred Heart.
Students will be permitted to wear appropriate PE gear to school on their scheduled PE day but must wear their school jumper.
Appropriate tracksuit pants to be worn during normal classes. No shorts or gym leggings outside of PE.
Appropriate shorts and gym leggings are permitted to be worn during PE classes.
Students must have appropriate outdoor / rain gear for PE classes. Where two PE classes are timetabled together, one class will be outside. We cannot have two PE classes in the hall at the same time.
Students will be given the opportunity to change their clothes after each PE class. We encourage all students to change back into their full school uniform.
Cleaning and sanitising facilities will be provided at each changing area and we ask all students to clean down their area when they are done. Face coverings must be worn in the changing areas at all times.
We would ask students to sanitise their hands upon entry and exit from the hall/gym. Sanitisers are provided.
Students will enter the hall wearing their face coverings and must keep face covering on until told otherwise by their teacher.
To avoid students congregating in the entrance hallway outside the main PE hall or in the changing rooms the main sliding door to the hall will be left open. The students will walk into the hall and go to their designated ends where markers on the floor will show where they are to stand for roll call.
We always encourage students to bring their own water bottle and to stay hydrated during the PE class and these can be refilled when needed. Please do not share your water bottle with anyone else.
Towels, clothing, runners and other personal equipment should not be shared with other students.
We would encourage students to leave all valuables at home as we now do not have the facility to put valuables in the lockup during PE class.
Showering facilities can not be used after PE classes.
The above procedures will be constantly reviewed and changed when necessary based on the current public health advice.
