Reopening of school update from Sacred Heart.
We are currently preparing the school for reopening in line with the DES guidelines on the safe and sustainable reopening of Post Primary Schools. The school is a hive of activity creating additional classroom space, one way flow systems, reorganising classroom seating plans, installation of sanitizers and signage, amongst many other modifications.
Here are some notes (not an exhaustive list), that we will update as we get closer to September. We will also communicate with home before the startback to provide further information.
We are planning to reopen Sacred Heart Secondary School for all year groups on a full 5 day timetable in accordance with the government’s plans for reopening schools.
The School Return Dates for 20-21 are as follows.
Monday August 31st : Student with SNA access Induction & Peer Mentors
Tuesday September 1st : 6th years & Applied Leaving Certificate Induction (Half Day 12.30pm for students)
Wednesday September 2nd : 5th years & Applied Leaving Certificate Induction (Half Day 12.30pm for students)
Thursday September 3rd : 1st year Induction (Half Day 12.30pm for students)
Friday September 4th : 3rd Year Induction 1st, 3rd,5th& 6th Year (Full Day)
Monday September 7th :2nd Year Induction 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 6th (Full Day)
Tuesday September 8th : 4th Year Induction 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 6th (Full Day)
3. All students will receive Covid 19” return to school” induction.
4. Physical distancing measures will be in place, including classroom reorientation, restructuring of break times and lunch times, one way systems, queuing systems and marked off seating areas.
5. Sanitisers will be in place in all classrooms and in various places throughout the school.
6. The student main entrance to the main building, will be via the back door near the sports complex, only. Existing entry exits to other buildings/rooms in the school will be explained at induction. Inside the school a new one way system will be in place.
7. Information and signage will be erected throughout the school.
8. A new Covid friendly timetable is being designed for all year group to assist with the promotion of physical distancing.
