History/Geography Trip to Ireland's Ancient East
Leaving Cert students enjoyed the first day of their school tour along Ireland’s Ancient East.
After an early start, they visited Collins’ Barracks where they had a guided tour of the 1916 exhibition. Highlights were the authentic artefacts on display and the interesting facts provided by the tour guides.
Then it was on to the city centre where a walking tour of Dublin ensued, accompanied by their teachers Mr Daly, Mr Mulcahy, Ms Harrington and Ms Bell. Students walked from the Spire to Grafton Street, taking in sights such as the Abbey Theatre, the Customs House, the GPO, Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin Castle, St Patrick’s Cathedral and St Stephen’s Green. The students got to cross the Ha’penny Bridge and see Temple Bar. They also passed Leinster House and saw where Oscar Wilde grew up near Merrion Square.
Day 1 was a huge success!
