Junior and Senior Hockey Teams enjoy good wins against near neighbours

Sacred Heart Secondary School 4 : Bandon Grammar 0

Sacred Heart’s junior hockey team continued their winning streak today with a 4-0 win over close neighbour’s Bandon Grammar. Both teams started quick and Clon were lucky to be leading 1-0 after a tight first quarter. Bandon came out strong for the second quarter but Sacred Heart’s defence was excellently manned with Sinead Murphy making some vital saves in goal. The Clonakilty girls came out fighting in the second half and dominated midfield. After some great passages of play, Sacred Heart were ahead 3-0 with one quarter left to go. As predicted, Bandon upped their play for the final quarter, but Clonakilty stayed strong, and managed to score another goal from a brilliantly executed short corner. Goal scorers for Sacred Heart were Ellen Crowley, Lucy McCarthy and Zara Flood. Hopefully the girls can continue their winning streak in their next league match against Regina Mundi.

Congratulations to our Senior C hockey team who beat Bandon Grammar School 1-0 last Thursday. After holding possession for the majority of the game, Clon got their well deserved goal in the last quarter from a short corner. Well done to all involved.
