Sacred Heart Students win Scholorships to Germany
Each year, the German Foreign Office funds scholarships for Irish transition year students to take part in language courses in Germany. A direct application for such a scholarship is not possible. The selection is based on the students' performances in German in the previous Junior Certificate Examination. The best 70 students in the country are invited by the Department of Education and Skills to an interview/language test at the Goethe Institut in Dublin. Two students from Sacred Heart - Katie Sexton and Paulina Oramus were among the best 70 in the country were invited to an interview in Dublin. Both girls were selected as being in the top 24 in the country and were therefore awarded an all expenses paid scholarship for 3 weeks in Germany. Paulina is heading to Kiel in the North of Germany and Katie is travelling to Osnabruck in the West. It is a fantastic achievement for the two transition year students. Well done!
