Basketball Victory

Congratulation and well done to our 1st Year Basketball Team

On Wednesday last our first year basketballers travelled to Neptune Stadium in Cork where they put their unbeaten record of six wins from six games on the line in the County Final. Their opposition were a very talented team from Colaiste an Chraoibhin, Fermoy who had a similar record heading into the final.

The Fermoy girls got the better of the early exchanges and were leading for most of the first half. However key scores from Kiya O’Mahony and our girl’s strong team defence meant they were always in touch. Towards the end of the first half our hard work started to be repaid when the baskets started to come a little easier. By half time we had hit the front but only by two points. The third quarter was a tense affair which went almost basket for basket. The Sacred Hear girls held their discipline throughout the game and this, together with the sharp shooting of Brid Collins saw us pull away in the fourth quarter. In the end Sacred Heart won on a score line 21 points to 12.
