The Bord Gáis Energy Student Theatre Awards 2016

The Bord Gáis Energy Student Theatre Awards is now in its third year. The awards are open to primary school students (from 3rd to 6th class) and all secondary school students throughout Ireland. The awards are a perfect opportunity to celebrate the creative talents of students in the areas of drama and theatre, and allow these qualities to be fully expressed

There are 12 award categories this year. These are: Best Overall School Play, Best Overall School Musical, Best Direction, Best Costumes, Best Set, Best Male/Female Performances in a Leading Role, Best Performance in a Supporting Role, Best Musical Number, Best Short Scene Script, Best Choreography and Best Dramatic Critique.

There was great excitement in Sacred Heart on Friday 11th March when the cast of this year’s musical were informed that our production of ‘The Sound of Music’ was one of four schools nominated in the category for Best Overall School Musical. Oral Scally has been nominated in the category Best Performance in a Supporting Role and Samantha Shortall has been nominated for Best Performance in a Leading Role.

The final takes place in the Bord Gáis theatre on May 6th we wish them the very best of luck
